Sahyadri Devrai Danoli, Kolhapur
Where the Western Ghats Whisper Through Every Leaf
In the lush green country of Kolhapur, where the Sahyadri ranges fold into rivers and rice fields, Sahyadri Devrai is taking root in Danoli. Indigenous species — the very trees that once defined this landscape — are returning to land that has slowly been losing its forest. With every monsoon, a new grove is rising, gentle and green, the way nature intended.

The Land and Its Story
Danoli lies in the rich agricultural belt of Kolhapur, a region blessed with red lateritic soil, abundant monsoons, and a deep cultural bond with the Western Ghats. For centuries, this land carried thick native forests alongside its farms — groves of jambhul, karanj, ain, kinjal, and hirda that fed birds, held water, and shaded generations of villagers.
But as farmland expanded and common lands shrank, much of that forest quietly disappeared. Sahyadri Devrai chose Danoli because the soil, the rain, and the people here are still ready to grow a forest. The Devrai is not introducing something new — it is bringing back what this earth has always known.
