Sahyadri Devrai Tokaigad, Hingoli
A Hill Reclaiming Its Forgotten Forest
On the rugged slopes of Tokaigad in Hingoli district, where the land has watched centuries pass in silence, Sahyadri Devrai is planting a new beginning. Indigenous trees — chosen for the dry, undulating terrain of Marathwada — are taking root across once-bare hillsides. Slowly, the gad is becoming green again, just as the elders remember it.

The Land and Its Story
Tokaigad sits in the Marathwada region, a part of Maharashtra long shaped by harsh summers, uneven rains, and recurring drought. The hill itself carries history in its rocks and folklore in its name — a place locals have always held with quiet reverence.
But over generations, deforestation, grazing pressure, and changing weather patterns have stripped much of the native cover that once crowned these slopes. Trees like khair, sissoo, hirda, behda, and chinch — built for this exact climate — have grown rare. Sahyadri Devrai came to Tokaigad to plant them back where they belong, and to give the hill its forest, its shade, and its sacred memory once again.
