Sahyadri Devrai Gopalkrushna Mohadi, Nashik
A Sacred Grove Rising in the Land of Vines and Hills
In the rolling countryside of Mohadi, near Nashik, where ancient hills meet a landscape of vineyards and farms, Sahyadri Devrai is planting a new sanctuary. Named in devotion to Gopalkrushna, this Devrai brings indigenous trees back to soil that has long awaited their return. With every season, a quiet forest is rising — rooted in faith, nurtured by the land, and guarded by the people of Nashik.

The Land and Its Story
Mohadi lies in the Nashik region, a part of Maharashtra where the Sahyadris meet the Deccan plateau and the Godavari river begins its long journey. The land here has shaped saints, farmers, and pilgrims for centuries, and once carried deep groves of native species — banyan, peepal, audumbar, karanj, and amla — sacred trees woven into the spiritual life of every village.
Over the decades, expanding agriculture and shrinking common lands have thinned out this natural cover. The Gopalkrushna Devrai is a quiet response to that loss. By planting indigenous species on this very soil, Sahyadri Devrai is restoring something Mohadi's elders still remember — a forest where ecology and devotion grew side by side.
