Sahyadri Devrai Prayaswan, Yavatmal
A Forest Born Where the Land Asked for Help
In the parched belt of Yavatmal, where the soil has carried stories of farmers, drought, and resilience, Sahyadri Devrai is rising in Prayaswan. Indigenous trees — chosen for the harsh, dry climate of Vidarbha — are being planted across land that has waited generations for shade. With every sapling, a quiet healing is beginning, one root at a time.

The Land and Its Story
Yavatmal sits in the heart of Vidarbha, a region known for its black cotton soil, scorching summers, and uncertain rains. For decades, the land here has shouldered the weight of cotton farming, climate stress, and a slow loss of native green cover.
Trees that once thrived in this dry-deciduous landscape — khair, palas, hirda, behda, neem, and arjun — have grown rare in the open countryside. Sahyadri Devrai chose Prayaswan to plant them back where they belong. The Devrai here is not just an act of reforestation; it is an act of solidarity with a region that has given so much and asked for so little in return.
