Sahyadri Devrai — Jambli, Kolhapur
A Forest Rising in the Cradle of the Western Ghats
In the green countryside of Kolhapur, where the Sahyadris pour rain into rivers and rice fields, Sahyadri Devrai is taking root in Jambli. Indigenous trees — the very species that once defined this terrain — are returning to land that has slowly been losing its forest. With every monsoon, a quiet grove is rising, blending into the green world it was always meant to be part of.

The Land and Its Story
Jambli sits in the rich agricultural belt of Kolhapur, a region shaped by lateritic soil, generous monsoons, and a deep cultural bond with the Western Ghats. For generations, these hills and farmlands carried thick native forest — groves of jambhul, ain, kinjal, hirda, karanj, and behda that fed birds, held soil, and gave shade to every village around.
As farmland expanded and common lands shrank, much of that forest quietly disappeared. Sahyadri Devrai chose Jambli because the land here is still ready to grow a forest. The Devrai is not introducing something foreign — it is returning what this earth has always known and quietly missed.
