Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti
Every year on the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Sahyadri Devrai pays tribute the only way it knows how — by planting trees in the very mountains he once defended. Shivaji Maharaj was not just a warrior king; he was a guardian of the Sahyadris, of its forests, its rivers, and its forts. To honour him is to honour the land that shaped him.
For Sahyadri Devrai, this day is more than a ceremony — it is a vow. Volunteers, villagers, and supporters come together at our Devrai sites across Maharashtra to plant indigenous saplings, clean fort surroundings, and celebrate the Maharaja's enduring bond with the Sahyadris. It is our way of saying that the best garland for a king of the mountains is a forest that grows in his name.

01 — Tribute Through Trees
Indigenous saplings are planted across our Devrai sites in honour of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Every tree becomes a living tribute — one that grows stronger and greener with every passing year.
02 — Forts and Forests
The day is also dedicated to fort surroundings and forest patches near historic gads. Cleaning, plantation, and awareness drives are organised to restore the green cover that once defined Shivaji Maharaj's kingdom.
03 — Awareness and Heritage
Through speeches, songs, and storytelling, the event reminds every participant of Shivaji Maharaj's deep environmental ethic — his protection of farmers, water, soil, and forests, centuries ahead of his time.
04 — Community in Devotion
Villagers, students, volunteers, and supporters gather as one. Together they raise flags, plant trees, and renew their pledge to protect the Sahyadris — the same hills that gave birth to a king and continue to give life to millions.
