Eminent Taxonomist

Dr. Yadav is an outstanding plant taxonomist of international repute. An excellent teacher whose floristic and taxonomic works particularly Flora of Kolhapur and Grasses of Mahrashtra have tremendously influenced many students to take up plant taxonomy as their career. During the last 3 decades he not only recorded a new flowering plant family Hydatellaceae and also discovered 60 species new to science. His contributions on cytotaxonomy and biosytematic studies of Chlorophytum, Barleria, Ceropegia, Ledebouria, Crinum have been widely acclaimed. He is an ardent field botanist and outstanding plant photographer. His works on ex-situ conservation, species recovery and rehabilitation of nearly extinct species Hubbardiaheptaneuron & Ceropegia fantastica and establishment a lead Botanical Garden are exemplary.
